Bing Webmaster Tools
Reads searches and clicks from Bing; sends new pages to it
- You make
- an API key
- Where
- https://www.bing.com/webmasters/
- Command
kokuban connect bing --account <https://example.com/>
Steps
- Sign in, add your site if it is not there yetYou can import your sites from Google Search Console there.
- Settings (the gear), API access, API Key, Generate
- Copy the key
Then connect it
kokuban connect bing --account <https://example.com/>kokuban asks for the key (it is not shown as you paste it), keeps it in your OS keychain, and tries it at once. If the key cannot do something, it says what to change.
On kokuban's screen, the connections list shows the services not connected yet: open one and press y, and the screen hands the terminal to this command.
Good to know
- --account is your site's address as Bing has it (https://example.com/).
- kokuban sends the key in the request's address, as Bing asks; it never writes that address anywhere.
If it does not work
The site has to be verified in Bing Webmaster Tools with the account the key is of
kokuban connections checks every connection and says which ones need you.
Taking it back
Run kokuban disconnect bing@hq, then generate a new key on the same page (the old one stops working).
